ALLEGED LAND GRABBING IN OKHUOROMI
Ohen of Okhuoromi, Members of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Uselu, Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Appear Before Edo State House of Assembly Investigative Committee.
The Ohen of Okhuoromi, Prince Ovbokhan Igbinovia and Members of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Uselu staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society limited and Counsel to Okhuoromi Community has appeared before an investigative committee of the Edo State House of Assembly to make their position known to the committee.
Their appearance followed a petition on allegations of land grabbing against the Ohen of Okhuoromi community by members of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Uselu staff Multipurpose Cooperative limited.
The maiden meeting of the investigative Committee Chaired by the member representing Akoko Edo Constituency 2 Hon. Emmanuel Agbaje is to get first hand information from all parties on the allegations of land grabbing allegations against the Ohen of Okhuoromi community.
Addressing both parties, Chairman of the investigative committee, said the meeting is to obtain documentary evidences on the transactions by both parties and clear grey areas in the agreement.
Hon. Agbaje said in view of the petition sent to the House by the cooperative society, there was the need for a thorough investigation hence the setting up of the as adhoc committee by the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun and invitation extended to both parties in the interest of justice and fairness.
Towards expediting the committee’s investigation the petitioners documented paper were submitted on behalf of the cooperative society by the President of the Cooperative Society Dr Wellington Ogieriakhi while counsel, Barr. Peter Uwadiae submitted documents on behalf of Okhuoromi community.
In an interview counsel to Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Uselu staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society limited Barr. Raphael Iyamu said with Edo State House of Assembly taking over expectations are high that some areas of breach will be unearthed while Counsel to Okhuoromi Barr. Peter Uwadiea said Okhuoromi has done a detailed analysis of their transaction while expecting a satisfactory outcome for parties
Other members of the committee Hon. Chief Sunday Ojiezele and Deputy Whip Hon. Ephraim Aluebhosele appealed to parties to maintain peace, while the Chairman assured that the committee’s secretariat will communicate the next meeting date to all parties involved in the case.
